The next Health Care Leadership Forum/Sherwood B. Winslow M.D. Distinguished Lectureship is set for Tuesday, October 12, 2010.

We welcome Dr. Aviad (Adi) Haramati (click for bio) of Georgetown University School of Medicine as our speaker.  In addition to being a tenured Professor in the Departments of Physiology & Biophysics:

·    He is current chairman of the North American Research Conference on Complementary and Alternative Medicine

·    He is chairman for the National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Education & Training Review Panel

·    He is chairman of the Corsortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine

·    He serves on the Executive Committee for Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium; Board of Advisors for the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Healthcare and the Institute for Integrative Health.

Is CAM the New SPAM?
We hear a lot about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
What many are unsure of is the scientific rational and evidence for undertaking such treatments either together with or in place of traditional Western medicine.  The 2007 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), which included a comprehensive survey of CAM use by Americans, showed that approximately 38 percent of adults use CAM.  It is reported that Americans spent $33.9 billion out-of-pocket on CAM over the previous 12 months.

What physicians and patients really want to know is what all the time, expense and energy invested in CAM is worth when it comes to truly improving patient health?  Attend the next forum and find out from internationally recognized expert Dr. Haramati.

The Event will be at the Battle Creek Country Club (click here for a local map), 318 Country Club Drive, Battle Creek.
Dinner & Social: 6:00-7:00 PM
Presentation: 7:0 PM
